Today we watched clips of “The American Experience:  LBJ” and took notes, talked about on his Vice Presidency, Civil Rights Act of 1964, War in Vietnam, The Great Society and Gulf of Tonkin Incident.  We used this graphic organizer to guide our notes(click here).

We then began a poster assignment which is due tomorrow:
1. You  will create a poster on a specific Civil Rights Movement
2. Your poster must have a picture, slogan, and three (3) facts about the movement.
3. At the end of the class period, you will have 3 minutes to present. Your presentation can include a skit, poem, song, rap, or story for extra credit.

Today we continued our tri-fold pamphlet of civil rights movements of the 1950s-1970s.  We looked at the Yellow Power, Red Power, Grey Power, Gay Rights and Disabled Americans movements.  See some examples of these movements in action below

For this Type 2 you will be using the facts from the other side that you filled out when you where watching “Mighty Times”.

You are going to be writing a letter to Mrs. Barbara Alexander (Rosa Park’s niece) as a classroom assignment.  This will be sent to her so make sure it is heartfelt and sincere.
